Rather appropriately coincidental manner, the theme for a ‘young writers’ competition’ for primary children in the boys’ school is “Changing Times“’.
In the past 12-18 months, I have experienced a lot of change – externally, as well as internally.
Recently, when looking for a quote on change for my team’s departmental ‘All Hands’ call at work (the first ‘All Hands’ call after the announcement of the departure of a senior leader), I came across this quote by Erica Jong, which really resonated with me:

But eventually, for work, I chose a classic Heraclitus quote, which is particularly appropriate for the context at the company I’m working at:

While googling for Erica Jong’s change quote for this post, I came across this webpage and browsed a bunch of other Erica Jong quotes, which I find amusingly incisive, and rather topical. I suppose. I know I came across a second copy of Erica Jong’s first novel ‘Fear of Flying’ as a teenager, and started reading it. I’m just not if sure I ever finished it. Nonetheless, having browsed through her quotes, I almost feel like reading ‘Fear of Flying’ and some of her other books now.
