Happy Chinese New Year of the (Water) Rabbit! (I didn’t even realise it was Water Rabbit, until a couple of teachers at our Group Suzuki Violin class asked me what a “water rabbit” was!)

恭喜发财!
新年快乐,
万事如意,
心想事成,
出入平安!
大吉大利,
步步高升,
身体健康,
年年有余!
New Years’s Eve dinner yesterday: (i) Pan-fried sea bass, (ii) Steamed sea bass with soy sauce, chili flakes and spring onions, (iii) Curry chicken, (iv) Three-treasures steamed egg, (v) Stir fried pak choy with garlic and ginger. (And of course, with rice!) With longan for dessert.

I called my parents this morning to wish them Happy CNY. And even though we’re supposed to avoid some ‘taboo’ words and topics, and are supposed to be happy on 正月初一, my mum broke a bunch of taboos (words and topics), and made me cry. Then later when I spoke to my dad, he also cried (so I suppose it can be said that I made him cry).
Anyway, because I don’t want to compound the… taboo breaks… I won’t write about it today, but some other day instead. Sometimes (very often) I don’t understand my family.
