Decided to go to the gym today, and take it easy and do only what I can, because I’m really supposed to still avoid strenuous activity. Luckily, today’s Hybrid class format meant that I could choose my pace and effort level, and Fran (the coach) wasn’t too rah-rah and pushy today. After the class, Fran and I caught up briefly – she had noticed I hadn’t been to the gym in a while, and I explained my absence. I’m really glad I went, because I didn’t over exert myself, my tailbone wound didn’t hurt, and I feel much better after the session – happier, healthier, stronger. I’d been feeling sluggish, tired and weak recently. Besides, I need to do a certain amount of exercise each month to score points for my exercise ‘status’. Yes, gamification at its best!

Despite the fact that I don’t think I really exerted myself, my heart rate readings had me at 90+% of max heart rate (Red zone). I guess I’ve done so little exercise in the past few weeks that my heart was struggling to keep up.

I attended the kids’ end of term studio concert organised by their violin teacher, which was nice. Baby F played really well – 9/10; whereas Big Boy O’s performance was more a 7/10. But it’s not too bad.

On the academic front, Big Boy O’s mid term results were a sea of dark green (the best outcomes), whereas Baby F had two yellows for English reading and writing!!! His first yellows I think! (Or maybe he had yellow in French last term…). Regardless, this is not acceptable. And I’ve bought him Enid Blyton’s “Faraway Tree” series, which were the first “wordy books” I read when I was 7, and got me addicted to reading. I hope Baby F likes them too.

In other (shitty) news… my boiler broke down again. Big Boy O asked me why the heater wasn’t working… the “reset” button keeps blinking red, and all the resets in the world are not fixing it.
