Watched ‘Much ado about nothing’ this evening at Theatre Royal Drury Lane. The play, starring Tom Hiddleston and Hayley Atwell as Benedick and Beatrice, was recommended by a friend’s friend.
It was excellent! Really great fun. A modern take on Shakespeare with modern setting, contemporary music, lots of dance, pink confetti, but Shakespearean language. It was a fun, pacey, Shakespeare RomCom. Tom and Hayley had great stage presence, and the chemistry between his Benedick and her Beatrice was amazing. I’ve forgotten how great theatre acting can be, and I’ve really missed going out to the theatre. I genuinely can’t remember the last time I’ve been to the theatre to watch a play! Maybe the Norman Conquest??
