I got the kids back today.

At some point F said his teacher asked the kids in class to say if they agree or disagree with the statement “Companies should pay a plastic pollution tax”, and he asked me, what do you think I answered, and why?

I paused for a moment to think, and replied, “I think you disagreed, because you are pro business”. He said, “Yes I disagreed. But it’s for a different reason. I said it’s because business exists to win money, not to pay taxes.”

I chuckled, because it was the same underlying logic, but explained that companies already pay taxes today, so it’s not like they don’t pay taxes.

He said, “Yeah, but they already pay a lot of taxes. If you tax them too much, they won’t win money!”

Funny bunny. I know my kids well. 🙂 And they have strong capitalist instincts. 🙂
