“The Road to Penang” included a stop off at Taiping on 12 April for lunch and our favourite cendol…

Convenient street snack on Armenian Street while waiting in line (!!) to take a picture at “Little Children on a Bicycle”. The uncle from this stall doesn’t use sugar in his muah chee, which was great for the kids!

Two dinners / two char kuay teows on 12 April – yummy!

Breakfast on 13 April – char kuay kak, and apam (also known as “ban chang kuih”)

Char Kuay Kak @Kimberley Street
The char kuay kak, supposedly the best in Penang. But I prefer the PJ one which my mum buys, I think from Section 17 market

Lunch on 13 April – Char Siew and Siu Yuk at possibly the world’s best char siew place. Definitely Penang’s best char siew place. Even I like it! Crispy, and caramelised char siew. Yummy! Despite me not being a fan of char siew and sweet tastes in general.

My three dinners on 13 April: Prawn mee, Penang laksa (Assam laksa), and another Char Kuay Teow

My two lunches: T&T Prawn Mee and Char Kuay Teow at Lorong Selamat + Tau Foo Fa dessert / snack post a trip to ‘The Top’ (previously known as ‘Komtar’)

Char Kuay Teow @Lorong Selamat – I think this is actually my favourite!

What a truly lovely food trip!

Did I over-eat? Yes.

Do I regret it? No!

I am slightly uncomfortably full, but not as uncomfortably full as I’ve been on my other Penang food trips. But Malaysia, and Penang especially, is for food.
