Brought the boys climbing again. We (or at least the boys) did virtually the whole gamut of things at the Castle – the traverse wall to warm up, some top rope (Lemon Wall, then Fang Wall), bouldering (downstairs and the boys even tried the competition wall!), autobelay, and then the cubes.

Big Boy O completed two 5+ routes, Baby F completed probably two or three 4+ routes. And even I managed a 5 route, although it was a really easy 5 which felt more like a 3, except that it was pretty long (up the autobelay wall). So maybe it was graded 5 for the endurance / stamina aspect. Maybe I should up my ambition… my aim was to climb at least one 5 route by the end of the calendar year, but also to be bouldering V1-V2 routes regularly. And according to a conversion chart I’ve seen, that probably doesn’t make too much sense.

I was afraid of the height of the autobelay, and didn’t feel comfortable with it, so I climbed down two thirds of the way through (and Big Boy O was saying: “Mama, don’t climb down – use the autobelay!”, and I responded: “I’m scared. And besides, climbing down is good for building endurance anyway – at least that’s what people have said!”)
