I‘ve been hearing all sorts of wild rumours, and then saw some data points which suggested that I may potentially be at risk (me, or another person), unless it was a typo.

After sitting on this information for several weeks – i.e. the implication that there could be imminent risk – I decided to ask my boss directly.

I just said, look I’ve seen this data, which says there is only 1 headcount in the UK under you. As far as I know, there are two of us. I’m not sure if it was a typo, or signifies something. But I haven’t asked so far, because it’s a sensitive time. But I just wanted to let you know, in case it is a typo, that the information i presented in the paper has this potentially wrong number.

He just said, I have to look for more money / cost saves, and everyone is on the table. But no decisions have been made yet.

It’s always great to be living in fear, and on tenterhooks, in a prolonged period of uncertainty…
