Attended a parent talk about ‘Frustration & Connection in Practice’. Big Boy O attended with me, because I didn’t trust the brothers not to get into a fight without me there.

The teacher who gave the talk spent sometime talking about the ‘Fight, Flight or Fawn’ responses to threats, and only mentioned ‘Flooded’ (more commonly known as ‘Freeze’) towards the end. Big Boy O and I identified our patterns as ‘Fight’ responses, and we agreed that our entire family comprised of Fighters. At least when it relates to practice for sure, and in much of our daily interactions.

But after the talk, when I did some light google searching, e.g. on this website and some others, I find that my responses are much more varied. E.g. over exercising and focussing on work is a typical ‘Flight’ response. And I’ve definitely done a lot of appeasing (‘Fawn’ response) throughout my life, as well as procrastination etc (‘Freeze’ response). I’ve definitely had different patterns / responses in different situations throughout my life. And in my current situation, I think I’ve expressed the full range of responses.
