Managed to wake up on time, boarded Wizz Air relatively uneventfully, landed in Vienna in one piece, and managed to get the local train (rather than the touristy ‘CAT’ into town) following advice from AirBnB host. Crappy sushi lunch, made by Chinese people, at the hole in wall near the train station. Bought an English ‘Lonely Planet Vienna’ from Thalia at Wien Mitte.

The rest of the day was a bit a downhill from there. Getting bags stored was a mission – why does this country only accept cash? Getting to and into the AirBnB was also a bit of a mission. U4 train line was not accessible from Wien Mitte, so had to go a more-complicated-than expected interchange with luggage. Then difficult to find key safe, and key safe was jammed etc.

Determined not to completely waste the day, we visited the Vienna Naschmarkt (night market), and had some Austrian fare at nearby (and Lonely Planet recommended) Haas Beisl.
