A balanced day of kids’ and mummy’s interests.
Hiked all the way to Thalia at Wien Mitte again to buy an English language Lonely Planet guide. Unfortunately, there was a no more ‘Vienna’, so we bought the ‘Austria’ version, which is probably more practical overall anyway.
Discovered the Museum Quarter by accident while trying to get to the Hofburg.
Hofburg Imperial Palace in the morning. A ticket seller at Hofburg managed to buy some tickets for a show the next night. Big Boy O was keen, I think partly because he knew I had wanted to visit and attend a show at the Vienna Opera house. But also because there was going to be music by composers he recognised.
Museum of Illusions in the late morning / early afternoon. Spent more time there than I would have liked. But the boys really enjoyed themselves, and at least I had some nice photos from the excursion.
Kunsthistorisches Museum (aka KHM, or Museum of Art History) in the afternoon.
Dinner at Griechenbeisl, an 550+ years inn, which has served many famous guests over the years.
