Did a double session at the gym today – albeit with an hour’s break in between for a work call.

Wasn’t feeling great, so only did 45kg deadlifts in SGPT. I’m not sure if it’s because I am on the edge of falling ill (got caught in the rain earlier this week, and sneezing / having some sniffles), or because I’m trying to use the right technique – start with my bum lower to use my legs, rather than using my back and arms, which could risk a back injury.

The noon class I went to was amazingly well attended by relatively fit guys. I think the draw must be our pretty, tall, leggy, blonde Slovenian coach. One of the stations had rope slams – this was the first time I’ve done it. It’s surprisingly hard work, especially since I’m short. And I got into the “red zone” quite quickly. At first I couldn’t get the rope to ‘wave’ all the way to the end of the rope. But after a while, I learnt the technique to get the wave movement all the way through – which involves getting on the balls of my feet, hingeing my back slightly backwards while lifting my arms up prior to slamming the ropes down. It is super satisfying to see the rope wave all the way from my hands to the end.

I’m trying to cram in as much workout as I can before I have to pause and take a break. But I felt pretty tired at the end of the day. Although it’s probably still not as tiring as the cardio class I did earlier in the week, where I was “in the red” for a vast majority of the session.
