Had lunch with a divorcing friend of friend, and fellow Malaysian, who is also into dancing, albeit Blues rather than Lindy. She’s going to be alone over Christmas this year, as her kids will be with their dad. She mentioned a Jive event on Christmas Eve. We may go together, or I may go alone, if I have no other plans I suppose. Dancing does help me lift the blues (pun intended).

Went to my last Swing class and Christmas party / social dance tonight. The Level 1 class was surprisingly complicated. As usual, there were some new faces. Surprisingly, among the new faces were a couple of really old guys who I’ve seen at social dances. I had good fun social dancing, although perhaps it was bouncier / more active than ideal given recovery. But at least I didn’t dance to a really fast song that a few folks danced to – Tim (my performance ball partner) & Eliza, and Emma & one of the old guys. They were so bouncy and quick with their feet, they looked almost like cartoons, and I totally understand why a Blues dancer said that when he dances with a Lindy Hopper, it feels like there’s a jumping bean or a little bouncy person inside. But they were amazing to watch… I’d love to be able to dance and follow like that. As one of the guys commented, Tim is great lead.
