I just wanted to write a post here, dedicated to my darling baby boy. And to remind myself, not to let him suffer, or feel less loved, through accidental ‘benign neglect’, or feel neglected.
I don’t often have the presence of mind and opportunity to impart important life lessons to the boys in the midst of the daily grind – between my work frustrations, personal struggles, and the never-ending logistics and minutiae of daily life – I’m often short, and snappy with them. Instead of taking their ‘misbehaviour’ (really, often it is just behaving in way that is not to my preference and expectations) as opportunities to engage and discuss, my response is to snap at them, which often results in rapid escalations.
A couple of weeks after the Little Bug was born, the Boy commented that he felt relieved that I was more maternal than he had expected.
Baby-Ao has eyelashes now! It’s good to know that my milk is being put to good use in growing thing (hopefully his brain too!!) and not just being regurgitated all over himself, myself, the pillow, bed etc.
